Amy Saxonmeyer returns to On the Verge Gallery March 5th!

Amy is back at On the Verge Gallery!  On the Verge will be displaying the works of local Greeneville area artist, Amy Saxonmeyer in an exhibit entitled “Variety is the Spice of Art!”  The exhibit, which will open on Saturday, March 5th and run through April will feature an eclectic assortment of acrylic on canvas pieces. 

Saxonmeyer said, “Since retiring in January 2010, I've been making up for many years of lost time and abstinence from my two life-long passions, art and music.”  “Now is the time” she said, “to work on so many of  the creative projects I have for so long wanted to pursue but didn't previously have enough free time to do so."

Variety of  both subject matter and style are only part of Saxonmeyer's forte but are two of the aspects that make her exhibits refreshing, exciting and memorable.  Her sometimes gutsy use of vibrant color along with lively imaginative images come together in ways that produce very unique and provocative results.

Since Saxonmeyer is also a musician, it's not surprising that she injects whimsical musical themes into many of her paintings.  Some feature gently flowing keyboards and various abstractly presented musical instruments.  Some of her works are more subdued interperative renderings of local mountain landscapes, homesteads, sunrises and sunsets.  And then there are other pieces that Saxonmeyer describes as “just for fun stuff”.  They are colorful, playful, light-hearted creations that Saxonmeyer says she hopes will provide people with big smiles and a sense of fun and happiness.
